Tips for Cooking Camping Meal

We understand it, when it comes to camping, it is irrational to expect a perfectly laid table. But you do not have to be Bear Grylls to enjoy an outdoor adventure.

Here are some really practical tips for making your camping meal memorable, and for the right reasons.

  1. Bag Omelette : Place eggs, a dash of milk and a little salt in a ziploc bag and shake. Dip in a pot of boiling water until it is firm. You can add cheese and accompany with bread if you have these ingredients.
  2. Timely oats: light to carry, easy to prepare, nutritious and easy to eat. Carrying oatmeal in flakes and preparing it in a small bowl with a little sugar and milk powder is simple and healthy.
  3. The cookware: a medium pot and pan are more than enough. Do not even bring glasses or glass dishes. Choose plastic and one per head, each responsible for keeping your plate and glass clean.
  4. If you have ice: A block of ice lasts longer than a bag of crushed ice. Simply bring your own ice pick (or improvise one) and open the cava as little as possible.
  5. The role of aluminum: can serve you to cook many things. If you cook with charcoal, food well wrapped in it can be thrown to the ember. Check frequently because they are done fast.
  6. Fruits: Carry fruits already washed to avoid wasting water and prefer those that can be eaten with skin or are easy to peel, and that are resistant to room temperature (or heat). We recommend peaches, mandarins, guavas, plums and mangoes. A good jam is also a convenient food.
  7. Do not forget: some things you should not forget are salt, oil, a good knife, rag to grab the pot, matches, water purification pills (you never know when they will be needed), a tablecloth or cloth. A paper can also help you.
  8. Leave at home: Do not bring fresh cheeses, juices that are easily fermented, great variety of condiments, chocolate… In general, anything whose storage becomes a worry on the second day.
